Friday
Mom's luncheon went well. One of her co-workers made a roast, and the others brought in potatoes and veggies. Someone made a cake and another cake was brought in from a store. Everything was delicious. Mom received a certificate of service from the state, signed by our Governor, and an engraved clock from the office. The office also got together a collection of cash and that was given, as well as a couple of gift cards and some beautiful peach roses from a woman and her family whom Mom has worked with and known for around 20 years.
Mom cried, so I cried too. Funny how that works. I can't stand to see her cry.
Today was her last official day. She worked this morning and then for lunch a couple of her friends at work took her out. A guy she used to work with who retired last year came along too, so that was nice. Mom hadn't seen him since his retirement party last year. She had a good time today, so that makes me happy for her.
It will be a big change for her, but I hope she will be happier now. That's what counts.
As for me, nothing going on. Three day weekend, yay! Except I don't get paid for holidays. Oh, well. I'm just excited for the extra day off, you know? Got some movies from work so will watch those. Play with the dog. Sleep. Print stuff off the internet. Who knows what else. Will be nice, I'm sure.
All right. Gonna go to bed. Good night.
