Thanks for reading!
Thank you for sharing this with us!
I also hated that we never really got to know what happened to Steve. It was like House's fascination -and dare I say love
Oh yes I think you can dare to say love although I'm sure he'd never admit to loving that rat.
of Steve was this big thing one minute, and then dropped the next. But that is, unfortunately, quite often the way with the show.
Yeah unfortunately that does seem to be the way with the show only House seems to drop things more than other shows do.
But really, how hard can it be to put in one comment...and possibly a reaction about Steve? It's called continuity - something that often gets forgotten. Then again, that's what we're here for :D
I really wish they were more attuned to keeping up the continuity of House a bit better, especially since that might help trying to figure out the pre-series timeline a bit easier.
Oh well if they don't you're right when you say that's why we fanfic writers are here!

EXACTLY. There's so much about the pre-series timeline that I'm curious about: His relationship with Stacy, what he was like with her, how he was before the infarction etc I know Stacy said he was pretty much the same, but there must have been some difference. I want to know how the break-up happened. I want to know if Wilson helped and how Wilson helped. But most of all, I want to see House actually socialising (like they said he did - playing golf etc) before his leg. Even his childhood is skimmed over.
There's so much they can do with it, but I doubt they'll bring it up again.

Even though he was going through the infarction, I think we got to see a glimpse of what House was like pre-infarction during Three Stories.

My biggest question from this time is where was Wilson when the infarction happened? If we can believe what they established in Birthmarks this year as being someone accurate as to how long House and Wilson have known each other then they were most definitely friends during that time. I also would cite the fact Wilson talked about how House had changed in Detox (S1), which again establishes the fact they had to have known each other before the infarction for Wilson to have known House had changed.
Even his childhood is skimmed over.
This is definitely something I wish they would elaborate more on. I have hope that maybe just maybe they'll do so at the start of this next season because I would imagine his childhood is one of his biggest issues House needs to deal with.

Yeah sadly that's probably the case with most of the things we wish they'd bring up again.
And this reply isn't nearly as long as the first version I wrote earlier but it has the gist of what I said.

I agree about the whole childhood thing. If we don't see it addressed in the next season, they will have missed out on a huge opportunity.

Tbh, I think I'm just lame and want the chance to see House play golf LOL. But at the same time, for me anyway, a glimpse isn't enough, especially when his leg is such an integral part of the show (or at least has been until it was pretty much forgotten about last season...)
And yeah, you're right in saying that Wilson WAS House's friend during the infarction, so I'm with you in wanting to know where he was. It makes me wonder if TPTB know that they've missed this and are planning something big to reveal it, OR if they're just silly and think it doesn't matter.
It annoys me though that I keep getting my canon-House muddled with fanfic-house. I keep thinking that certain things have happened in the show (like Wilson revealing he was on his honeymoon during the infarction) when they actually haven't.
I think I need to sort my brain.

Yeah I thought what the heck since I remembered the basics of what I said - I wish you could've read the ORIGINAL version as it was probably the best.

Definitely a HUGE missed opportunity as I've always felt the way John treated House in his childhood is one of the main factors that shaped him into who he is and is as I stated before one of the biggest issues he has to deal with. One the saddest parts about his childhood and relationship with John (of lack thereof as I'm sure he'd tell me) is that despite the fact he hated the man, I always sensed after seeing Daddy's Boy and Son of Coma Guy that House wanted John's approval, wanted to hear the words - and sadly he never got to hear it.

Nah, you're not lame as I'd love to see that too! **hehehe**

Yeah more than a glimpse would be unbelievable but I am grateful for what we did see in Three Stories. Oh yes, the leg is an intergal part of the series and of House because it changed him from who he was before it happened into who he is now - but then it's not surprising the struggle to deal with so much pain would change House as that'll change you like nothing else can.
So you really thought they forgot about the leg? Well for most of the season I'd say that was somewhat true although there were times I would've sworn House's limp was more pronounced than usual. But they didn't completely ignore last year because it was quite obvious in a few episodes it was hurting him more than usual which is what led him to trying the methadone I think.
And yeah, you're right in saying that Wilson WAS House's friend during the infarction, so I'm with you in wanting to know where he was.
I mean his absence in the flashback scenes in Three Stories is the one glaring error I see in that episode.
It makes me wonder if TPTB know that they've missed this and are planning something big to reveal it, OR if they're just silly and think it doesn't matter.
You know at the time it was written they might have not realized (Shore included) that House and Wilson had been friends for as long as they have. But that assumption doesn't make sense either given Wilson told House he had changed in Detox, which once again suggests Wilson had known him for some time before the infarction.
You know I wonder if Wilson had indeed been around, present in the hospital when the infarction had happened would House's leg still had been operated on? I know Stacy was House's medical proxy but had Wilson been there would Cuddy still have told Stacy about the fact they could remove the dead muscle from his thigh and if she had, would Wilson have tried to talk Stacy out of giving her consent because he knew it went against what House wanted?
**sighs** So many questions and so few answers!
It annoys me though that I keep getting my canon-House muddled with fanfic-house. I keep thinking that certain things have happened in the show (like Wilson revealing he was on his honeymoon during the infarction) when they actually haven't.
Haha, I also tend to get canon and fanon mixed up in my head too at times.
I think I need to sort my brain.
LOL, I'm not sure how to sort my brain.
