This unemployment thing has been really good for me as a person. I've been challenging myself to do things that I have meant to do for quite some time. A few of the things I am proud of:
- Cooking something genuinely delicious
- Getting dental work that involved needles without crying (just minor freaking out- but no tears!)
- Stepping outside my comfort zone during interviews
- Working on my fitness goals. I can now do 1/4 mile run without stopping. I know it does not sound like much, but it is the most I have ever done and its a quarter of the way to my goal of running a mile!
- Giving away or donating clothes that are too "young" for me or that do not fit me
- Maintaining a good sleep cycle. I worried that being unemployed would make me lazy, but I am up early well-rested and ready for the day!
- Spending more time with family and friends
- Reconnecting with myself in terms of life goals, values, etc... and learning to hold them higher than the dollar.
Tomorrow I have an interview at the company that I interned with/worked with for a year. It is an entry level job that isn't 100% what I want to do in life, but I have seen time and time again that it is a gateway to wonderful things at this company. I am focusing on the long-term picture here and I would genuinely love to be "back on campus" again. Please keep your fingers crossed!!
