After each rampage of groundhog or deer or chipmunk, when I am near to tears, G sez, "You just can't have flowers up here; why do you try?"

Because I have to.

And I am making a little headway. If it wasn't for gardening I would sink. Up here on the mountain the climate zone is nearer to being Canadanadian-like. ;-) I feel your pain at the foreshortened growing season. Oh, if I could have a garden in Florida what wonders there could be. Of course, there I would have the addition of rooting wild pigs to contend against.

BTW What sort of madman takes perennials to the dump?

haha I get so sad whenever one of my plants die or (like when we last moved) I have to leave some behind ... ::cries:: That's probably why I often try to rescue dying plants from the stores!

Madman indeed! I guess when some people get set on doing something, they're going to do it - no matter!
