Hey!

Fun Nashville Fact: They have their own classical temple. Check out The Parthenon. We went to a good craft show in the park next to the Parthenon.

Riley is sick with a cough today, and owing to the Triaminic, is very subdued. So we are not gallivanting with other moms and tots, and he's playing quietly to himself for long stretches of time, so it is a good day for a brief update and lots of catchup reading on LJ.

We are all doing pretty well. Breezy is in Kingsport (4 hours away) but comes back tonight. He was in Knoxville last week for 3 days, but that is the most travel he's done is about a month. (I got him to listen to Outlander on tape, which I think dharshai gave me long ago, on the Knoxville trip. He came back a little bemused by it, but it did pass the time, and we had a good giggle talking over some parts.) Things are going well and he may actually make quota this month, which is great for a new employee. He also found a game which looks promising. He tried a "Living Greyhawk" one but didn't really like the format. The new game is in Bellevue, where we live, and there are a couple of players around our age. This is really good, because it is the most socializing that he's done since we got her, other than chatting with the occasional neighbor. He's just been really, really busy.

I on the other hand, am quite the social butterfly. If it's not the Y or library storytime, it's the MOMS Club of Bellevue. We just "sistered" (that's what they call it when they get too big -- we had 90 members and still growing rapidly-- and have to split - I suppose it sounds better than "the great schism"), and I am now the Treasurer of the South Bellevue MOMS club. My duties include: nothing (still waiting on the new tax id, but I hear it's not a big deal). Anyway, MOMS club organizes activites throughout the month (like going to the zoo, or getting behind the scenes tours of the exotic pet shop) that you can do with your kids, as well as weekly age-specific playgroups, and once a month a moms night out (we did bowling one month, and this month is bellydancing class -- I'm thinkin of you maudallan). A lot of the moms have moved here recently too, so there's lots in common. Oh, and the president of South Bellevue MOMS told me she had a 15th level elven thief when I told her Breezy's weekend plans one time. (Hee-hee.) My calendar is FULL, FULL I tell you. But this is good. My philosophy with "staying at home" is really "get out whenever you can". Sure, I enjoy the occasional vege day, and when you're sick you can't help it, but really, we're both much happier if Riley and I get out and see people in the morning. And if we didn't do activities, I'd be tempted to do shopping as entertainment, which is way dangerous and not that fun for Riley. (He knows the word "stuck" really well, as in, sorry, you're stuck in the shopping cart/car seat/stroller. Happily, saying the word over and over again is entertaining for him and usually distracts him from having a tantrum about it.)

On the other hand, Breezy and I have managed just two nights out by ourselves. I have to get better about cornering the babysitters. We have ideas of regular date nights, but it doesn't seem to work out. Something to work on.

Let's see... U2 concert (awesome time!, but I'll bet meercat has done a much better recap than I could do), Halloween (Riley was a dragon! We went to exactly 2 houses, but the neighborhood was hoppin'. The court across the street had a bonfire block party which was fun.) Coming soon: my parents coming for thanksgiving, us going to Belfast for Christmas (Riley's passport is in the works).

Oh, and I think I can say this now... Jodi's pregnant (my sister in Belfast)! She had to go on chlomid and a diabetes drug, but it worked and she was 12 weeks on Friday. She got a scan yesterday and it looks like just one perfect little Burgess on the way, so all is well. We're all excited about that.

I don't have Halloween pics because our camera died and we had to send it to Laurel to get fixed, but here's a oldie but goodie. I think it's from August. The t-shirt is from meercat.
