Dragon*Con, You've Changed. Or I've Changed.

A lot of what this says applies to me with Dragon*Con. Especially, the getting-a-room part. Thankfully, I've had belluthien, who is willing to endure the stress of crashing sites and phones cutting her off to get a room before they sell out in five minutes. I just can't ( Read more... )

I will miss you! But I totally understand the decision - D*C is a huge stressful burden.

I have to prioritize for a number of reasons - finances being a major part, but also, I only have a limited amount of vacation time, and it's stretched pretty tightly with the plans I have already.

I had similar feelings about going to Leaky 14... I feel better at the thought that I shall be staying home and writing, you know? Then, next year, there will be MISTI, and that makes me very happy :-)

~to get a room before they sell out in five minutes~

That sounds like a horrific nightmare to me, I tell you!

I have friends who go to Leaky - friends I do not know from my costuming circles.

Yes, the room situation is frustrating to no end.

The HP Cons have spoiled me for megacons like D*C, I just have no interest in what I read, see, and hear about them. Our thing is the acting with costuming, when the cons are too big all we can do is find a spot to get away from the crowd, for you can't even swagger or talk to people when it's this slow moving mob scene. No thanks.

I may have to do a HP con at some point. They look like fun. ALEP is like that. Max attendance is 170.

MistiCon in May 2015 is perfect size and low key and yet something for all, and Elven wear translates well to wizard wear... though I see you can do HP quite well.

Once our LotR Elven characters are finished, we'd love to do ALEP as well.

Just be aware, ALEP only happens every three years, and with only 170 spots, it fills up fast now that word is getting around.

Right now, I'm totally at peace with my decision. We'll see how I feel that weekend.
