I don't normally get involved in humans vs. wildlife debates. I think some time-consuming research is needed to really understand, and, selfishly, I like electricity and water and oil and natural gas, so I am part of the problem.
However, the solutions to this particular issue seem fairly straightforward and inexpensive, and preserve the lighthouse's history and function. A win-win.
