Lookie, I have an icon, hee hee! I actually had to pull that off my photobucket account since the hard drive with all my pictures on it is dead.
I'm feeling a little better today, though still tired. I'm using it as a valid excuse to be lazy. I actually bruised a rib coughing this morning. Now when I cough I have to hold my side.
I got my butt out of bed and went to church today. I have a job there on the side: I'm the choir director. It's a small, dedicated volunteer group with one very strong bass and others with varying sight-reading skills and weaker voices. Somehow, together they are more than the sum of their parts. I've had more than one comment of "It sounds like there are more of you up there." It's partially the accoustics, I'm sure, but they do have a very nice sound collectively. We've even done a few things a capella (without music).
I really hadn't expected this illness to linger so long. I figured I'd be able to sing this morning, but singing hurts, so not a good idea. I don't have any volume to speak of right now anyway. Normally, this doesn't make a huge difference, but I was already missing two members from my humble group. I had picked a two-part song thinking the reduced number could handle it. It ended up being my one tenor, Rick, and my pastor (who's a bit shaky) with five women, including the pianist (I usually sing tenor also). I put the mic on Rick to bring him out. He's good, but not strong. It ended up sounding OK. Though it probably would have been better had the pastor not sung, I don't like to discourage anyone from singing if they want to.
So another weekend pretty well shot. Nice day, too. Oh, well...
health or lack thereof,
