This Puts Things in Perspective

A cheap exploitation of the widespread American prejudice that anyone who happens to be Muslim is as guilty as the terrorists who crashed two airplanes into the towers.

Why are we so sure the controversy surrounding the "ground zero mosque" is a political exploitation? No one seems to object to the strip club within two blocks of ground zero. Hallowed ground. Yeah.

I visited NYC for the first time this year. You want a definition for "melting pot?" This is it. You can walk one block and easily hear five different languages being spoken. An Islamic community center with Christians and Jews on the board in Manhattan fits right in with everything else.

Politicians need a wedge issue because they don't want to campaign on any actual issues like the economy or health care, because guess what? No one knows what the hell to do with those problems, other than criticize whoever's in charge of them at any given moment!
