first day of volunteering

Jan 23, 2008 21:20

back in the day, when i was busy trying to con people into letting me into college, i volunteered once a week at Recordings For the Blind & Dyslexic. It was perfect for me -- I get to read lots of books and don't have to interact with the aged, age-deficient, or infirm. Today was my first day back with them after spending the past year trying to figure out a good place to volunteer. It's always good to stick with what works.

I read a book about nutrition. The part I read was all about how food supplements are bogus and you shouldn't take them unless your doctor tells you to. Then you should definitely take them, and not not take them.

The manager lady told me that I look like Pia Zadora. According to a 1981 edition of Genesis magazine (which, like Pia herself, I have never heard of):

By now, most of the civilized world has been exposed to Pia Zadora in one form or another. Her nymphet's face and woman's body have adorned T-shirts, album covers, TV commercials, films, and billboards. Her first film, Butterfly, garnered her the newcomer-of-the-year award of the Foreign Press Association; she opens big-name acts in Las Vegas, from Don Rickles and Rich LittIe to Bob Hope and Frank Sinatra.

Now, I'm pretty sure I've never looked like this:

or this:

The only one I'm willing to acknowledge, possibly, is this, because who doesn't love them so feathered hair?

But remember, your vote counts.
