toyota is putting their
dumb little scion car into second life in a place called "scion city."
"We developed Scion City to connect with the trendsetters," Adrian Si, Scion's interactive marketing manager, said. "That's our target demographic -- people who do things first. Trendsetters are instrumental in promoting brands."
and cnn manages to sound dumber than nyt does when talking about that-gosh-darned-internob-those-kids-are-into.
Second Life, run by Linden Labs, is an electronic universe where people's virtual representations, called avatars, can fly, teleport, chat and buy products and services.
avatars can fly! i just want las vegas to sue toyota for trademark infrignement* or something w/its cutesy little pun, and then this whole thing will be just great.
*note: i will admit that i just spent 20 addled minutes trolling the internet to find out how vegas came to be known as sin city and i'm gonna acknowledge that probably the las vegas tourism board and other official people don't officially connect w/or own the name. but i don't care and fact checking is crap. even if i now spent 30 minutes on it...
(5am: do i get to go to bed yet?)
