it is thanksgiving in america. today. maybe it is cold there? or there are leaves turning? or gray skies? or autumnal sunshine?
i am in israel. today. it is 61 degrees here, and the next 5 days are forecast to be between 65 and 66 degrees. it is sunny as always.
our lunch today: turkey like they used to serve in bartlett. sweet potatoes with no flavor and with pineapple hunks that i had to eat around. giant hunks of bread mixed with spinach, red pepper, and other random items ("stuffing"). a crumb pie (they don't really have pumpkins here, i've been told.) onion soup.
it was all very exciting, and i yelled HAPPY BIRTHDAY at all the british girls for fun.
memories of turkeys past:
first year i went home and my family said that we should let retarded people get run over by cars, and i came back to chicago and chuk was already back in the dorm. he had brought back an aeromattress from d.c. and was sleeping on it in the section 1 lounge. we went to a far-away goodwill store in the burbs the next day.
second year we went to jess friedman's/jon cowperthwait's shindig and jon's parents wanted us to pray before the meal or something?
third year chuk was in india and i was in d.c. so i went home to nj and probably got drunk with cousin olga.
but, um, last year?? i have no recollection. someone help me out here?
wishing you all that you would like to have wished to you. and if you eat something tasty, think of me and all the good times you and i have had, and how we'll have them again.
...even though i'm no good at writing emails...
