love in the sand

Despite a minor setback in the morning (and a large one yesterday that I am blocking out), I had a good weekend.

I was reading some articles about weekend depression and how it's important to always include something that you can genuinely look forward to in your planning. Cleaning and errands are all fine to keep you busy, but you can't let a day go by thinking that all you've accomplished were obligatory tasks. I honestly don't know if there are that many things I truly want to do, but it's a thought.

My treat for today was going to see the Christmas lights at the sand dunes. It was nowhere near the scale of Kobe, but the area was bright and pretty and there was a big tree and lit-up animals and flowers and, of course, sand sculptures.

I was supposed to go with some other JETs but I decided I wanted to get in a little earlier, so mostly I ended up wandering around alone. I met with them later but they were just standing around and I wasn't interested in that, so I went briefly to listen to a musician before hopping on the bus back. In effect, I was alone most of the time, but I think that was the best way to enjoy this all -- warm, listening to my winter playlist, having a blast in all of the snow that was falling.

Since I never have to drive here, I love it when it snows. It feels like cleansing.

Oh, also re: the thing about overthinking and platonic fail is, I think, fine now. I have been very normal and conversational and my mind doesn't take me to weird territory too much lately!
