how many delta representatives does it take to reissue a ticket?

TEN.

Literally. Not exaggerating. Singling out Delta is perhaps unfair because I was also bounced back and forth between US Air and Asiana, but if you add those numbers in, I spoke with 14 different customer service representatives to come to a pseudo-solution to my problem. (Which, incidentally, would not be a problem if my co-worker had shown me my itinerary earlier than the day before we left Japan.)

There are no words to express my unhappiness and frustration. After the ordeal of this trip, the added stress then this morning made me break again and I cried at 6 of the 14 people. Some of them were downright mean and would not hear me out. And because they would not hear me out, I literally got transferred from Department A to B and then right back to A.

At one point one woman told me she could help me and we were almost done, but I had to check on something with another airline. When I called back, the new woman I spoke to told me something completely different and that there was nothing she could do. I asked to speak to the original woman because I had her name and department, and I was told that We have so many representatives that there's no possible way you can speak to her again. THAT COMPLETELY DEFEATS THE PURPOSE OF GIVING OUT NAMES.

The very last woman I spoke to from Delta, though, was patient and calm and nice and spoke clearly and she told me that the penalty for changing the ticket would be more expensive than just giving up and buying a new one. It was really nice of her to just come out and say that.

So I did. My hour of calls this morning (no, I am not kidding it took a full hour) was, basically, pointless.

Did I buy a new Delta ticket?

HELL FUCKING NO.

rants, unhappy
