idle observations, part two

I've been watching a lot of 24 Hour TV this weekend, mostly because it's the first time I've still been in Japan at this point of the year.

I'm really interested in how often the camera for the little screen in the corner chooses certain people over others. Yamapi is on a ton, of course, and the main female personalities like Becky and Kanno Miho. Tegoshi also gets a lot more camera time than I would've ever imagined. The rest of NEWS, not so much... even Ryo (although he looks like he can barely keep his eyes open)!

Kame just showed up, too (Shuuji to Akira forevar?), but he is super funny on the screen because his face is completely devoid of emotion and his eyes are just dead. I shouldn't find this cute, I know. All of the fanfic I have been reading is warping my mind in unfortunate ways.

Yamapi's friend calls him "Tomo." ♥

Kanno Miho is adorable~~~~~~ She threw the cutest hissy fit ever during the Shabekuri 007 segment when she thought that they had captured footage of her saying something strange (or badmouthing someone) behind the scenes.

Imoto Ayako (one of the regulars on itteQ -- with the drawn-in eyebrows) is running a 78.7 mile marathon. This is really difficult to watch. They've been talking about her having knee problems beforehand and how her entire lower body hurts, etc. etc.

She only trained for 3 months beforehand and had problems during that time, it seems. Even people training for things like the Boston Marathon (that's like 26 miles, right?) train for, like, the year beforehand... This kind of thing is what Olympic athletes are in the condition for, not... random warai geinin....

After a point it started pouring, too.

IS THIS A GOOD IDEA?

The announcers keep saying, Oh, she's so strong we hope she'll make it! or We hope she's all right, but she won't give up! or whatever -- they are very careful not to say anything that suggests she should or has the option to stop -- but this all strikes me as really irresponsible and reckless. And cruel to be indirectly pressuring her... although, yes, she would probably keep doing it anyway.

It scares me how much enjoyment I derive from the general efforts of the Johnny's Entertainment agency. I don't think it should be this easy to reduce someone to incoherent goo.
