hanamatsuri

Today we had seminar outside:

I always leave this class wanting to be a better person. My seminar next semester is about anti-Americanism. I hope it doesn't make me hate myself. D:

Then, I hopped on the bus to go to an event at Boston College. It was my first time going there, but their campus is right next to a huge graveyard!!! Not okay at all. I'm super glad I had Catherines to walk back with. :3

For the most part, I liked their Hanamatsuri, although I think that parts of it were kind of overly silly/boring. I was there for kendo, Takenaka-san's jazz piano, A-RA-SHI lip sync (there were people in the crowd who had ARASHI uchiwa for every member!!!), a band called the goodbye cats(?), soran bushi, and a never-ending raffle. The prizes for their raffle ranged from bottles of green tea to the grand prize Hello Kitty pillow. I was not impressed.

It was set up more like BU's in that food was only between 5-6pm and from 6-9pm was performances only. Sono wari ni it was SUPER LOUD in the room because people in the back kept talking. I think that kind of defeated the purpose of making people watch the performances. It was interesting that they were rich in bands, though! There is apparently a J-Rock band at MIT called the Wasabi'z.

On the train today I got stuck in Red Sox traffic both to and from. It was crazy and I didn't know trains outside of Asia could get like that. I didn't manage to get a picture of that, but here is one at the bus stop:

I am always energized by cities that are not dead at night.

camera happy, boston, classes, japan club
