I finally had a field trip today! <3
We went down to Chicago -- all 10 of us in AP Music Theory -- and ate lunch at a really nice bakery, au bon pain (I think). Lunch is always the best part of these affairs.
Next, Orchestra Hall to listen to the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. We listened to something by Bartok, then tone poems by Debussy, and finally le visage nuptial by Boulez. It was interesting, and that's probably all I can say.
In listening to music, I guess I'm old-fashioned in that I need a melody to follow. Atonal things and coincidental music doesn't do much for me...
And that is the story of how I missed lots of school today.
