skills and flattery

Today I learned to make balloon animals! THIS SKILL WILL TAKE ME FAR. We made a huge arch, a dog, and a bear. This is my bear:

The seminar was for an ongoing volunteer  project at a children's home -- I'm excited to do this for real.

After, I went on what I guess was a date with a Japanese guy at a cafe. It was as awkward as it always is; as always, I pulled and pulled and pulled the conversation (are you content to sit in silence?) but it wasn't as awful as it could have been, and there may be a next time even if I don't see a future.

He was full of hesitant compliments, which were cute but god, what a difference confidence would make.

I know this is a selected subset, but I really do think that Japanese men just don't do it for me. At least, real ones. Jinnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn---

japan, pictures, boys, what am i going to do with my life?!, pet peeves
