i often joke about the number of over the counter drugs in our house and that i should start my own
crystal meth lab to fund school. i am, of course, kidding. but due to my dust allergies and frequent common colds, i have a lot of various brands of cold remedies including tylenol night and day cold, sudafed extra strength decongestant, sudafed sinus, life brand anti-histamine, aerius, robitussin, and buckleys. everyone in town has gotten this damn cold - it's like a frigging plague - i've had mine since last wednesday and it is now lingering in the form of a cough with some chest congestion.
le husband, who NEVER gets sick (seriously, he has a crazy wicked immune system. he should be studied. because he doesn't have the healthiest habits), has come down with whatever is going around. last night i gave him some robitussin for his cough and then he asked for a decongestant - which is weird. he hates taking any sort of drug for illness. he even hates taking an anti-biotic that has been prescribed to him. he had said earlier that he didn't want to take something that would knock him out. so i gave him the non-drowsy sudafed decongestant. bad idea. it has 120mg of pseudoephedrine and he was totally high last night, and not a good high either - total bad trip. he was jittery and dizzy and warm and when he went to bed, he would kick his feet about and chat and i would say, "for the love of maude! lie still or get out of bed and go read a book". the funny thing is, before last night, he always thought discussion about whether or not sudafed should be otc was dumb. now he's all, "how the hell can they sell this shit over the counter?!?"
whoops. note to self: no more ephedrine for le husband.
this morning, he has been talking about how awful it was and that it was the worst night of his life. but at the same time, he was up since 6:30am and was couging and snuffly. so around 7:30 i hit shoppers. since he was still a little wary of the bad trip, i got him the buckley's. it does taste awful and it does work.
