new right foot
Well, the dance weekend in beautiful Danvers, Mass. was a ton of fun. I got a lot of social dancing in, a couple workshops, and a couple competitions. The bad news is that I messed up my right foot (again). After dancing until 5am Saturday night (or Sunday morning), I woke up Sunday ready to compete in the finals of my competitions. However, I couldn't put any pressure on my right foot...minor problem. So, after a lot of drugs and ice, I got through 1 warm up song and 6 competition dances. It's amazing what drugs, numbness, and adrenaline can do! I got a 2nd and a 6th place...not great, but I'll take it.
After going to the SKETCHIEST doctor I've ever been to, I found out that I probably have torn tissue on the top of my right foot. For any of you counting, this foot has now had torn tissue, a stress fracture, a bunion, surgery, and two screws in it. The doctor I went to didn't want to do xrays (God bless the HMO), so hopefully it isn't anything more than that. The office itself was so nasty. And you all know how I like things clean...the assistant's white lab coat had a brown front pocket with medical utensils sticking out. EWWWWW!!! dirty dirty dirty. So, after picking up my new painkillers, I promptly switched my primary care physician. I had randomly chosen this one when I got my insurance.
So this has sidelined me for a few days. I've been stuck doing absolutely nothing but sitting with my foot up, and I'm going nuts. I hate sitting out. Some friends came over last night to watch videos and eat chocolate cake. mmmm. I'll attempt dancing this weekend again...we'll see how it goes.
This has pretty much consumed my life, but big news at work, too. The Assault Weapons Ban expired on Monday, so we've been working hard to show what a dick Bush is for letting this happen. A safer America my ass. Let's say a little prayer that the Shrub will pay for it in the election. If you missed the Daily Show's story on it, go to this website and check it out.
