I had a lovely chat with Caro last night about how my newfound love for John & Rodney cannot be textually rendered. I NEED them. I need them to be in love, I need them to be together. At this stage I cannot read fic where one of them is dead. I cannot read fic which pairs either of them with anyone else. I cannot even read GEN fic. It is

What I really want is a Dragonriders of Pegasus AU, in which John is telepathically bonded to a beautiful bronze dragon and Rodney, the ... you know, the engineer type genius guy ... somehow stumbles into a newly hatched queen. Can John's bronze outfly the rest in an attempt to secure him as Atlantis' Weyrleader, so he can lead the ongoing battle against Wraith thread? Or will the devious and deceiftul Koyla find a way to thwart John's plans and become Weyrleader? (Of course it is my story. John will win. But don't ruin the suspense for Rodney.)

...I can totally see Rodney accidentally impressing a gold dragon. He just--that's something he would do. And I AM GOING TO FLAIL MYSELF COMATOSE. FLAIL. COMATOSE. HAPPY.

They're having a political meeting, because Teyla can sense Thread coming, and she's raising an alarm. But of course no one believes her because Thread hasn't fallen in hundreds of years and those are just the myths of the ancestors. And then in the middle of Koyla having a snit fit about Genii Hold not wanting to tithe so much to the useless Weyrs, John's bronze frantically breaks in and tells him that Thread is falling over Athos and reinforcements are needed, stat. And then stuff happens and Koyla is terrorizing Rodney and Rodney's queen gets all uppity with Koyla's bronze and John's bronze has to break up the fight and then John has to save Rodney from the lecherous, power hungry Koyla, and in the meantime, neither of them knows if these weird feelings they have around each other are really feelings of love & desire or if it's just that their dragons are hot for each other and they're getting caught up in the telepathic lust

SGA is my happy place - no matter what my other fandoms are doing, I can always rely on SGA to deliver the goods.

Love the Dragonriders AU idea, even if I have no idea what the original is.

Rodney would be the insufferable knower of all things/professor. Though being how he is, he's not so great at actually teaching people, so he lets his minions do that.
