Why everyone should read this: This is one of those fics that gives the reader a basis for the whys and wherefores of secondary, even tertiary, characters of the Potterverse. In other words, it gives us a back-story for them to be alive within.

This mysterious author really crafted a lovely, moving, and vaguely disturbing portrait of a constrained young witch, her life within Hogwarts rife with boundaries and restrictions, the world outside the castle tamed by the Founders' mastiff, a bloody warrior who was drawn to the young witch with just as much fierceness as she desired her freedom.

Really, go and read it for yourself. Be amazed at the pacing, the lyrical quality of the prose, and the inspired styling.
