NIN show game show

Sep 17, 2013 06:51

Thank you for playing 'the outfit is right', with your host Amanda!  The game show where you mix and match cheap weird pieces of clothing in our host's closet to come up with the perfect outfit to go to the NIN concert in Boston with an old friend from HS on a shoestring budget. You decide my fate by choosing door number one, door number two, or throwing your own ideas behind a giant buddha tapestry and calling it door number 3.

The first two items up for bid:

Our host has yet to receive either of these two items as of yet.  She fell in love with the sleeves on the top, but the neckline might be fearfully dowdy.  Would probably look best under something else, but what?

These leggings are promising to be the host's everything, but they had to be ordered in a size smaller than usual, so will they fit?? only time will tell. and it may be too late to find a backup by the time I get to try them on if I don't plan one ahead. haha, these leggings look perfect for lazy shavers like me. no one will know if I miss the back of my knee!   I WON'T be wearing the top and leggings together without some other kind of bottom in there, though.

so, bottom choices? first thing that came to mind was a leather skater skirt, since those seem to be very popular. but out of my budget for now.

and I shopped around for a maroon pencil skirt, but the only likely taker in my size is $70, which is still too high.

(ew, those shoes look like they are probably gross).

But I DO have an old fake leather pencil skirt in some shade of maroon from the 90s.  I'm not sure if I can still wear it, but I'll investigate.

pretty close to this, but without all that detail at the waist.  it might have a slit.  It is kicking around somewhere in a pile of clothes that I decided I was too old for, but couldn't part with. what better time to get them out for a concert by an aging band?

So, we'll take this outfit and place all the potential contents behind door number one.

what's behind door number two, you say?

galaxy print peplum top, which i also haven't received.

I have this skirt, which i thought might look interesting beneath it.  it's really tight and stretchy with a high slit in the back.

would it look cool with the leggings above, or is that getting too busy?

and then there's the whole question of footwear.

I asked for a quote on making some custom studded leather bracelets and a small collar/choker from a local artist i've met a couple times, but I might have to settle for this cheapo set from etsy.  they claim it would fit but IDK.  for $20, maybe they're worth a shot.

well, I'm out of time for my outfit ponderings.

feel free to look through my old entries and my 'nice' clothes on pinterest for more ideas.
