Just read an excellent fanfic, Nunc Pro Tunc (Now for Then), by

It captured perfectly what is kind of unique about Bones: the cliché of the hero/heroine getting saved at the last moment, no matter the obstacles, is turned into a pivotal plot element. Booth & Brennan may not realize fully that they are perfect for each other but the progression of episodes accumulates evidence, incontrovertible evidence. It is not silly, not ignored the next episode.
