Shocks & Surpises (Chapter 5)
Another couple of minutes had passed. Emily seemed to be unable to find her voice. She glanced at David who didn’t seem to know what to say either. The reporter had by now walked over to them.
“Um.. we couldn’t help but overhear what David said” The blonde haired reporter interrupted breaking the awkward silence.
They were caught..
“Look we can explain!” Emily started but David cut her off.
“Em we have to be honest. I mean they heard everything” David said as calmly as possible.
“Okay if you insist” Emily replied nervously as they would probably be live on Fox right now.
The reporter held the microphone up to David.
“I’m making a joint statement on behalf of myself and Emily. Yes we are having a baby together. And I’m going to help her raise this little girl no matter what. This isn’t exactly the way we planned it to come out though” David continued more confidently.
“What about that blonde haired man who you said was the father?” The reporter asked now questioning her.
“That was a cover up. We weren’t ready to deal with the situation yet so I just said Mark was the father to give us more time. I can assure you David is telling the truth” Emily replied and grabbed David’s hand for support.
The reporter stood open mouthed and nearly dropped her mic. Loud gasps could also be heard from the camera crew who had started filming them a few minutes ago.
“David what are you going to do about your wife?!” The reporter asked again after regaining her composure.
Emily hadn’t even thought about Jamie in all of this. What were they going to do?
“This interview is over!” David snapped back at her and led her back to the studio. His hand still gripped hers firmly.
Once they were back inside they were surrounded by Hart and the rest of the cast. They obviously heard all the commotion outside.
“What?!” Emily snapped angrily at them “You heard everything. So come on let me have it!”
Emily just wanted to have their reactions over with. One less thing to face
“I can’t believe it Emily. You guys really fooled us when you told us it was the guy with the blonde hair” Hart shouted at her.
“Hey leave her alone!” David said protectively. He let go of her hand and instead placed his arm in front of her.
“And you David. I’m disgusted at you. What about your son and Jamie!” Hart criticized them further.
“Look I am going to go home and have a long talk with Jamie and explain everything. It’s none of your business! I can’t help how strong my feelings are for Emily. Some things are just out of your control!” David replied angrily.
Emily just wanted to get out of the room. She was holding back her tears.
“You don’t have to go home David. Talk to me right here!” a voice came from behind them.
Her and David turned around.
“Jamie?” David asked shocked she was here.
Emily couldn’t hold her tears back anymore and ran out as fast as she could.
“Emily!” She could hear David calling her but she couldn’t be there when she was there.
