I dream of cakes and pies.

Tim's pre-Thanksgiving dinner is coming and my culinary expertise has earned me a place of honor in the kitchen working shoulder to shoulder with Casey in preparation to feed 20-30 hungry bellies, I have to admit I'm both excited and nervous about it.

But, I've been pondering a new desert, Aunt Joan brought up an idea of crafting a cheese cake pecan pie it seems like a good idea but the question is how could I get them both to work in the same dish? Someone suggested swirling them. Even though they are both custard based dishes I don't think that they would actually hold together because of the pecan pies consistency.

So as I lay in bed last night I think about this Unicorn of deserts and then it hits me, while the pecan pie is just too weak to hold together pumpkin pie has a bit more body and it's almost similar to... *drum roll* cheese cake!

It all seems to match up and thinking about it the flavors should actually complement each other and maybe a little bit of pumpkin spice could make this cake extra nice. Of course now I need to forage though my recipes and then recalculate the proportions to make only one or two cakes. And I may just treat myself to some new pans while I'm at it.

Of course I'm still going to chase my dreams of the crown prince to deserts i.e. The pecan pie cheese cake but that's going to take a lot of pondering and trail and error... But me thinks people will be more than happy to dispose of my mistakes in that process.
