I woke up this morning to find that my single working video card had died during the night, despite being safe and cool in an unpowered case. (Well, maybe not died died, but it produces a screen so full of colorful artifacts that it is completely worthless, and the far end of it heats up to blistering temperatures no matter what I try with the thermal pads and screws, even though the center remains cool enough. WHAT.) I don't know whether to give it a proper burial or take out my rage against it with a hammer.
Now I have to hurry up and throw down $450 on a new (beefier, but solitary) card before I remember that I can't really afford it.
All in all, I can safely say I learned a lesson from this: "Snow goons are bad news."
blaming the gremlins,
forces conspire against me
