But whatabout when I say things like "I quat my job yesterday"? It also bothers me that The Designers Of The Language (just to be clear, I know so much better than to say this) gave some irregular verbs only two forms.

I saw "dranken" on a forum today. It almost broke my will to live. I rather like "quat," though. Does it come with a past participle of "quot"?
For my Grammar Costume, I haven't gotten much past the need for a stylish GV in the center of the chest. Green seems like a good base color.
And I've been eying that poster for a long time. Someday I will own it and tack it up on my living room wall, or possibly somewhere visible at my place of employment.

("dranken", yeah, that's just, "why?") For some reason, I tend to think "i -> a -> u" in my made-up participlations, from sing I assume. Although I just realised I've never said "sut" or "shut". I'm rarely perfect, would seem to be the moral there. (;
Green seems like a good base color. I'm all for green, in general. Oo! Editing my previous paragraph, I just had the silliest thought: you could have irregulars/sidekicks, and call them The [mispronounced] Participles. Like "disciples". Although, mispronouncing would seem to miss the point. Nevermind.
And I've been eying that poster for a long time. I'd vote for place of employment, so that it might actually have an effect.

I have no idea why I tend to run "i -> a -> o" when I'm playing with verbs; I can't even come up with a single one now that properly conjugates that way. I also like to end my participles with "en," making "quitten" about as likely a choice for me as "quot."
I spent most of my free time at work today kicking the Grammar Vigilante idea around. By mid-afternoon, I had most of a cast, including villains with names like The Dangling Participle and Unclear Antecedent. Then I sketched possible costume designs on the back of what might have been an important memo. Lucky for me my co-workers always assume I'm doing real work.
I'd vote for place of employment, so that it might actually have an effect. And that way, I could point meaningfully to it as needed. Hmm. I need to find a job at which I'd be allowed to hang things in the employee break room.
