A Mist Upon The Dreamer's Eye [narrative]

Dracula watched as his younger, mortal self slept fretfully - plagued by curse-induced nightmares, to live the deaths of the pathetic beings known as humans over and over again when his eyes are closed.

Yes, Soma had mentioned the blood - but not these dark shadows that plagued his mind. The Vampire winced as the boy cried out, his back arching painfully. With narrowed eyes, Dracula grabbed fast to the human's face, sharp claws dug into skin.

"I know you dwell in him, wretched beasts - Heed my call as lord of the night and shadow," Dracula whispered harshly as pale motes of light circled around the dreaming human's body. "Come out from the shell or else I wrench you out myself."

Soma gave out a stifled cry under his hand as the being that was sealed in refused his call, coiling and snarling like a serpent. Foolish monster... the vampire phased his hand to a ghost-like appearance.

"You may suffer your worst nightmare yet, little prince. But you will rest easily... thanks to me." Dracula smiled down as he thrust the incorporeal hand into the youth's chest - eliciting a heart-rending scream that echoed through out the hall. Even the Vampire cringed as he grabbed hold and tore something free with a squishing, ripping sound.

Soma's eyes snapped open at the same time as the amorphous coil of blackened mist writhed and tried to escape from the vampire's solidifying claws.

"Gah... what - the hell are you doing?!" Soma demanded as he tried to get up but found that his body was completely entangled in his sheets. "How the - you fucki-"

"I am saving your life, child." With that - he set the squirming creature aflame - it's psychic screams of pain causing the human to flinch as he instinctively covered his ears futility. "This was in you - poisoning you mind and soul for the last several months. If I had not removed it, you would have eventually been drive insane."

"Why should I believe you?" Soma snarled as he worked an arm free as he watched the mist-creature curled into flame, and then into smoke that drifted upwards.

"Because that too was ripped out of my chest - just like this."
