So, over the last few years, I've written about how much I hate that the SF community seems to be going irremediably down the path of writing ever-less-readable tracts on racism, equality and over-lterary fiction - after all, I don't know a single reader who came to science fiction for any of these things, which is why the genre was dying.
Most of this was orchestrated by people like the failmob, and it's really nice to see that there's been a counterattack this year. GRRM can complain all he likes, but fun swashbuckling entertaining reading can only be good for the genre.
Yes, there's room for navel-gazing in SF (sometimes, as in Lem, it's even done right) - but the driving force in the genre has always been, and should remain, fun.
Bring back the fun, Sad Puppies!
The funnest part of all of this is watching the people who've pushed the genre into this corner complaining about the whole thing. The tactics the "diversity" group has pushed are outright extorision and shameless bullying - it's fun to watch them whine against the backlash they so richly deserve.
