Gallego Day

I got some good news this week: my story "Tenth Orbit" continues its quest to be translated into every language known to man, and has now made its first appearance in Gallego (not to be confused with Gaelic).  It was published this week with the title "Décima órbita" in the Galician magazine Nova Fantasia.  You can have a look here.

In case you're wondering that's Scots Gaelic for 'not many things could be mistaken for Gaelic'

LOL. The closest to Gaelic I can get are the words in Welsh to Sosban Fach - and I can't remember what most of them mean!

The few words I know in Irish Gaelic and Welsh are just plain rude so let's not go there! :o)

Yep, kind of a cross between Spanish and Portuguese. I found that I can actually understand the story perfectly well. Wouldn't be able to speak Gallego, of course, but definitely able to read it.

Their cooking is quite famous too... Spain is packed with Galician restaurants.

Yep. Good food there. Most Argentines have at least a bit of Gallego blood in them, so "Spain" and "Galicia" are essentially synonimous - we actually call all Spaniards "Gallegos" (in case you were wondering where I get my defective PC gene, being Argentine is a BIG hint...).

Both my family and my wife's, though predominantly Italian have some Gallego in there somewhere.
