Some wordage

Yesterday, I wrote a few words, and also did something that I almost never do: edit a story that is in progress.  I did this mostly because I came back to it after a week, and reread the beginning to see what the thing was about, and I realized I hated at least one paragraph in there.  So I pared it down before adding a few more words.

My characters, as always, are in deep, deep trouble.  In this case, I can't really imagine it ending well for them...  but you never know...
