Sacrifice.
If your friend starting dating someone that seemed perfect at first, and then over time began to take away your friend's dreams, alienate your friend from their old friends, and even completely change your friend into someone you know they wouldn't want to be - wouldn't you speak up? Even if it meant loosing your friend? It doesn't matter as much to me about what she thinks of me, if she gets her dreams and self back - right?
There are simply things I value more than financial stability and someone to come home to at night. Maybe not everyone else believes this. But wouldn't you do things to protect your friends even if they didn't believe that they need to be themselves, not who their partner wants them to be? Even if that means loosing some ground for a little while?
To me, I did what's right. But how many other people would do the same? Would anyone do it for me? I hope so. But the person I thought most likely to, is the one I had to do it for.
