I FAILED SO HARD at
dragancaor/
draganin's shoe challenge, but I'd taken these shots for it back when that week was still running and dammit, since its the last day of the month (and I've at least succeeded at posting more times this month than there are days and so winning
javabean_dreams challenge -- HUZZAH!!) I'm gonna post the last pics with little anecdotes. DAMMIT!!
xD
These were a pair of shoes bought whilst I was on the hunt for shoes to wear for friendseses wedding. I was really low on shoes that weren't broken to heck and I had NO summer shoes, especially none without a heel and I NEEDED FLATS BADLY! And my Dad was with me and pointed these out and said "How about those? *apprehensive*" and lo! I thought they were awesome! I tried them on, danced about in front of the HUAG PLASMA SCREEN at the back of the shoestore that was showing Fragglerock on repeat (NOSTALIGA!!) and decided I definitely needed them.
The shoes, not Fragglerock, though EVERYONE needs Fragglerock, Y/Y?!
I went to pay for them at the counter and Dad kind of subtly snuck his visa debit in there and paid for them for me as a present. DAD YOU HUGE ADORABLE MANS!! ♥
The poor shoes have seen better days now, and are kind of breaking up a bit which makes me sad, but I'll still completely wear them and their studded butterfly cuteness till they break apart on me completely and I weep the bitter tears of much-loved-shoes worn to a much-loved death.
Okay, I LOVE these sandals, they are simply gorgeous and I've had them for YEARS and they never seem to get old and broken. Superior workmanship I THINK SO! They're so simple you hardly look like you're wearing shoes apart from the cluster mass of beads from your to to your... top of your foot junction thing? *is having a word failure thinger*
ANYWAY! My adoration and vocabulary malfunction aside, the reason I'm posting these are not to wax lyrical about THEM, but rather to talk about THE PAIR THAT GOT AWAY, BUT NOT FROM ME!!
I went in to this boutique shoe shop on Rundle St with
qudsielf and she found these kitten heeled sandals that had a similar shoe cut and line to these, only they were a more tan leather which blended with and yet still complimented her dark olive skintone, and THEY HAD CLUSTERS OF TINY GOLDEN BELLS ON THEM INSTEAD OF BEADS!! OH MY GOD THEY WERE RIDICULOUSLY DELICIOUS I WOULD'VE DIED FOR HER TO OWN THEM!!!
But they were $140 and at the time she was really poor (we were just out of Uni I believe) and just could NOT justify the expense as much as we both would give them burnt offerings and pray to them as god of shoes. She spent about an hour wandering around the shop in them while I tried on thirty shoes that could only hope to emulate SOME of the awesome of those belled heels and then she, reluctantly, took them off and we left to go to dinner.
*sighs and bottom lip wibbles in remembrance*
OOOH MY!! These delicious shoes. The "Grandma Shoes" as I like to call them. xD I've yet to wear these to an event, or even really around the house xD I loved them in the shop but I was sure I was ON CRACK for loving them and was like "These ARE cute right?! I'm not going crazy?!?!" to anyone that walked past me which probably scared half the clientele of the shoe and accessories boutique away.. SORRY SHOP!! I did buy three pairs of shoes and a fascinator in there so they can't be TOO angry with me, right!? xD
The fabric on them is so brilliantly a grandmother's armchair, the bows are so quaint and ridiculous and the peep toe is such giggles with the rest of the colours and floral prints -- like OOOOH LA LA!! TOE CLEAVAGE, SO RISQUE! *giggles*
But AUGH! I've just been waiting and waiting for a suitable event (and suitable outfit xD) to wear these with and I've never really found the PERFECT time... But now I believe they've just been sitting about waiting for Es & Saj's RBP..!! Great Gatsby meets Alice and Wonderland, Perfect Y/Y?! And I'm going to build both my and Greg's outfits from these up... *dance*

WOOO! Last post of February complete! That should bring me up to an even 30, which is two more posts than there are days. DELICIOUS!!
Now I will COMPLETELY COLLAPSE into a spasming ball of nett-fleshes after an excruciating but AWESOMELY fun afternoon and evening of Wedding Dress shopping (and bridesmaid/decoration idea perusing) with Qudsi. IT BROKES ME, BUT IT WAS WORTH IT!!
