draganin is doing a shoe photography coffee table book, and NEEDS YOUR HELP! She's got a questionnaire about shoes and your experiences up in her journal and needs as many people as possible to reply. Responses and cool stuff will be selected and go into the book, along with general moods etc.
If you could spare a few minutes to fill it out -- Guys too! -- that would be awesome.
Its not a meme, but I thought I'd keep my responses in my post all the same...
1. What drives your shoe purchase? Necessity or Accessory? Comfort, Colour, or Style?
Necessity, Accessory, Colour AND Style. How could it be any other way?
2. Do you buy a pair of shoes to match one particular outfit, their ability to suit many?
Normally when I purchase a pair of shoes to go with one outfit, they will then go with MANY because that's how my wardrobe works. LOTS of colours, patterns and co-ordination ^_^
3. Have you bought a pair of shoes purely for the shoe & needed to later create the outfit?
Both yes and no. I normally buy shoes purely for the shoes, and then co-ordinate outfits afterwards. If they facilitate me buying more clothes then AWESOME but that's normally not an issue.
4. What catches your eye?
Gorgeously designed, brightly patterned heels, especially if they're victorian era-esque. Which makes me a sad panda because I can NEVER WEAR THEM! If the same design comes in more flatter styles/ballet flats though then I'm in heaven. xD
5. Do you see the store & stop to browse, or do you just walk past & get distracted by that “must look.”
Depends entirely on my time limitations. Normally I'm going somewhere, needing to meet someone, have very limited standing/walking time so stopping to browse unless thats the entire point of my outing is out.
6. What are your most expensive pair of shoes? How much were they?
Oddly, I've never spent more than $110 on a pair of shoes.
7. What is the most you’d be willing to pay for a pair of shoes?
The right pair? And if I had the money/available credit? $300. Which I already think is stupid, I mean starving people in the world, right? But if they're THAT GOOD then I'll so totally go there.
8. What are your cheapest? How much were they, & were they on sale?
$2 shoes my mum found for me at an Op shop, they were totally new, never been worn, still in the box with the tissue paper etc. xD And they were STUNNING.
9. What are the pair that were the best value for money? Why?
That pair. I wore them into the ground over a four year period. And that's saying something since normally I kill my shoes in about three months.
10. Do you regret buying any of your shoes? Why?
NEVER. If I thought I was going to regret a purchase I wouldn't make it in the first place.
11. What are your favourite shoes? Why?
Right in these ten seconds, my purple (and 930428 other colour) japanese inspired print I &heart; Billy Mersey/Manic style kitten heels
12. Do you keep them in their boxes, line them up or toss them into a corner?
All of the above, depending on the shoes, and depending on my mood and depending on my nostalgia association.
13. Have you ever dreamt about your shoes?
Apart from using them as weaponry to stab into people's skulls/eye sockets (my sleeping subconcious isn't very friendly xD), no.
14. Has there ever been a pair that “got away”?
MANY. OH SO MANY. But they've been a personal decision to not purchase normally due to monetary situations or budgetry considerations. Oftentimes I just have to go "You did not know you needed these until you saw them ten seconds ago. You CAN let this go. You CAN!"
15. Have you given any a special name?
Yes, I had a pair of randomly purchased 'massage shoes' bought in the Philippines which had really cool patterning on the top. They were called Sven -- a name later given up for a bra that had weird mottling on the inside for venting in the Filipino humidity. Boob underside massage? Weirdly just say yes. xD
16. What style do you have the most of?
Ballet flats in multiple styles/practicality
17. What colour do you have the most of?
Red/Maroon. Or maybe Green. Or it could be purple... I AM UNSURE xD
18. What is your worst experience in &/or because of a pair of shoes (old & new)?
I bought a pair of really cute green diamante flower embellished flat sandals in Canada, and then later that day we went to Fort Edmonton for a day trip. I wore the shoes, like an idiot, to the fort and within an hour they'd ripped my feet to ribbons. The first 'rest stop' and souvenir station we came to we stopped to get bandaids etc from the first aid centre and while a friend was helping me cover my blisters/cuts I put my camera down on the bench by the first aid kit: AND SOMEONE STOLE MY CAMERA.
I spent the rest of the day pouting that we'd lost the AWESOMELY HILARIOUS videos and snaps I'd taken of the first tiny portion of the Fort and our shenanigans within, and ended up having to walk around holding my shoes, walking bare foot and limping for the next four hours. Bleeding into the 'history'.
19. What is the best thing that has happened to you because of a pair of shoes?
I'm not sure I've ever had an awesome 'caused by specific shoes' event. xD If I can't think of one, surely then it could not exist?
20. Has someone purposefully harmed a pair of your shoes? What did they do? What did you do?
In high school it was 'cool' to 'christen' people shoes by treading on them on purpose and scuffing them up with the base of your own shoes. I never did it to anyone but I had it happen to me three times to really expensive trainers. FAILURE TO USE BRAINS on the part of my school peers >_>
21. What would you do if someone came up to you, winked & said, “Nice shoes. Want to fuck?” ?
It'd 99% be my boyfriend in which case I'd be all HELL YES, or one of my close girlfriends in which case I'd say "LOL LOL RIGHT NOW, UP AGAINST THE WALL, BITCH!!" and then we'd drink tea.
