Lolita-esque Doll Meet

aka 'A Vivid Lesson in Assumptions.'

So! We were supposed to have a doll meet in Adelaide at Saldechin tea house yesterday, and I put forward that I'd prolly be able to check in or call and see if I could make a booking or something earlier in the week. BUT! Because things had been so crazy all week, we ran out of time to go there and I just thought "well they're open on a Saturday, the flyer on my fridge says so, there's no public holidays or anything like that that weekend so it'll be fine. Whenever we've been there there's been loads of seating, even on weekends so a booking surely wont be necessary." Seems like a normal assumption to make that a coffee house would be open at 11am on a Saturday, right?

WRONG!!

OH DEAR LORD. Jo turns up at the place half an hour early alone, in full BtSSB gear and an enormous bag of all her dorrie, and discovers that no, its closed that weekend due to the tram construction. Rings me in a grump to tell me off (and rightly so!) and then we decide okay, we'll relocate to the Chocolate Bean and message everyone we can and ask them to message everyone they can. Jo gets to the Chocolate Bean, ITS NOT OPEN UNTIL 12:30am WTH! O_O;;; AAAAUGH! Ainslee when did you change your times? XD

Okay so I finally turn up and meet Jo, Washi, Liam and Jess there and I start apologising profusely. We leave a note on the door of the CB (on the back of a 'The Reaping' postcard XD), and decide to head around the corner to Gloria Jeans. We've had a meet there before and they seemed okay with us being there no problem. We even had a cool-looking dad take photos of our dorrie while his kids stared at them from afar.

We get to the place where GJ is supposed to be and discover ITS BEEN RELOCATED! O_O;;; The place has been gutted and there's a sign on the door saying that they're keeping the lease but locating the actual store elsewhere.

WTF! O_O

Now we're starring in some kind of insane comedy, people are making jokes about it being the Adelaide Doll Meet Treasure Hunt, and I'm just panicking that its snowballed into something insane and people have to lug all this stuff around and not everyone has everyones numbers and generally just apologising like mad and feeling INCREDIBLY bad about the whole thing.

We were really close to Cibos, its decided the big tables upstairs there would do great for a meet and its ACTUALLY OPEN, we head up there, message everyone that we can again and actually manage to sit down, unpack the dorrie, get drinks, have buff mens open windows for us, and eat some cake, take some pain killers. Crisis, for the most part, averted.

There was still some hitches and some people were still really angry, for which I'm truly sorry, and I spent the meet feeling SO horrible and trying to make sure people had a good time and understood how sorry I was for screwing up but in the end we did get to play with some pretty dorrie, mess with cute little lolita outfits in different forms (Jasper and his little hat! <3) drool over Jo's clothes excessively and revere the BtSSB, squee at Nee's Lolita Ski Bunny-ness (SO cute in blues and whites with a ski-esque jacket), gasp at Nee's delf art Freya Miyu, Charlotte (She and Matilda sort of have the same eyes! I want more comparison shots! <333), and go crazy when Washi got her little Bambicrony, Cyan, to stand on his head on his own! ♥ So I think it was fun in the end

So the moral is: NEVER TAKE A COFFEE SHOP (or in our case two coffee shops, a tea house and a chocolatisserie o_O;;) FOR GRANTED.

Oh.. yeah, we took photos too. XD I didn't take many because I grabbed the wrong spare batteries on the way out and got the flat ones which were sitting next to the charged ones, yes I really could do NOTHING right yesterday morning. BUT I did manage to get 32 half-decent kind of ones. Okay most of them are CRAP shots but there's a few that are great in there I hope XD:
