By Sunday, I'd been home two days and still hadn't visited BW's, so when Adam called that afternoon, I was more than happy to go. He picked me up and we settled in for a good evening of trivia. Andy soon joined us, and, when a big group of guys sat down in front of us, we thought nothing of it. That was until Efron, the manager, asked for one of the guy's autographs. After a while, more and more people came asking for him to signatures or pictures. Adam asked Efron what was up and it turns out Helio Castroneves and Sam Hornish Jr. and friends were sitting right next to us. Now for all you non-racing fans, both these guys are in the top 5 in points and in this year's 500 pole. Castroneves is also a two-time Indy 500 winner (2001-2002). And yes, I had to look all that up, because niether I nor Adam or Andy are racing fans, so it really wasn't a big deal for us that they were there. But probably the weirdest moment was when there was an NTN trivia question about the 500 and one of the answers was Sam Hornish Jr. We were actually in the room with a guy who was a possible answer on a question. I doubt I'll ever be in that situation again. Andy suggested I introduce myself to the two guys and tell them I was in a similar line of work. They drive cars; I drive cars; they're almost the same thing.
Today, I spent most of the day laying around the house. Adam and I attempted drove John's friends to their softball game. When we agreed to take them, we thought it was maybe a 10 minute drive to a nearby church, but, once they got here, they said they had to go somewhere way out in Avon, almost 30 minutes one way. So we took them, but got a call as we were driving back. Turns out they were at the wrong place and were really supposed to go to the nearby church. We turned around, got them, dropped them off again, and barely got back in time to see Ken Jenning's return to Jeopardy.
After seeing Ken back in action, I drove down to Greenwood to meet Peter and Mark. We grabbed dinner at Rally's and headed over to the mall to see Sahara. As we went in, who did I see but Jason working as ticket taker. It was good to see him again, but we didn't really have time to catch up.
I've been back four four days now, and, just like last year, I have yet to unpack. Hopefully I'll get that done and do a little laundry tommorrow, but those aren't very pressing issues. It feels really good to have abosolutely nothing I have to do.
