/etc/init.d/fridge restart
Well, the fridge works again!
Apparently I was lucky it was a sturdy German "Miele", else the repair man wouldn't have been allowed to repair it.
It took 35 minutes (10 minutes diagnosis, 5 minutes walking to the car to get a new thermostat unit, 10 minutes of replacing the part, and 10 minutes of chatting which new computer he should buy, and whether I liked Microsoft Vista).
I am now again fully fridged!
