Here is what I would like to know: Why is it that when I get sick it always on a weekend, when my doctor isn't on call, and it lands me in the emergency room?
I cannot afford to spend the rest of my life going to the ER everytime i get a respiratory infection.
So friday I went to charlotte all excited about carrie's wedding. I woke up early cause the house was full of leah and all her friends. There were donuts, it was exciting. I got my hair relaxed and cut (I'm still not sure how I feel about the cut...it's not what I'm used to cause Terry didn't do it) got home, dressed, feeling a bit icky but not horrible. Mom and I left for the wedding (everyone else was IN the weddings so they had left earlier). We were sat next to a guy I had a class in highschool with and we talked...by the middle of the reception I was having hot flashes and kept having to go outside. Moo and I went home early and I took a bath and took dayquil...the party started at 6, moo left for the party and I was gonna go later.
By about 6:30 I realized it wasn't happening so ben and I sat around, watched buffy, and then watched the carolina game (how did we lose so miserably? ARG. The only game I've ever actually cared about and we played horribly). Moo got home and was talking about how awesome the party was and I missed it. There was apparently karaoke and lots of food and fun stuffs. I missed it all. STUPID IMMUNE SYSTEM.
I tried to go to bed about 5 times but couldn't lay down cause of the tightness in my chest and by 5am was coughing up radioactive green stuff...onto the emergency room. I had made it nearly a year without an ER visit but alas, it was not to be.
The staff was strangely upbeat, friendly, and attentive. I've never had such a lovely time at an ER (all things considered). After the blood taking they gave me a happy albuterol bong thing, fluids, a Z pack, zyrtec, and orders to get a hummidifier. I got an extra albuterol/saline lung treatment before we left which helped get some of the stuff out of my lungs and took the chest burning away for a bit.
I spent all of sunday up and down cause I couldn't stay asleep more than an hour...I kept getting horrible chest pain. Mom finally returned with my hummidifier, albuterol bong filler, and Z pack. I got all drugged, took the albuterol and slept for a few hours.
Finally I gave up, got Ben up (he'd been with me at the hospital all night) and we packed up the car to go home. My new car is a manual, ben can't drive it yet, I had to drive home. (Note to self, teach ben to drive car). There was horrible traffic about a half hour north of charlotte and we stopped at a gas station: bunni's blood sugar was high cause of the infection and bathroom was necessary. We found the one gas station with a SINGLE bathroom and a line 20 people long. Ben and I also saw a hooker there. She was frightening. I was very tempted to just go pee behind the building but I realized that half the people's cars were back there..not very private.
Finally back on the road we make it past the traffic from hell (the accident wasn't even on the road, the police walking from one side of the highway to the other were causing the delays) and on home we went. Ben carried all my stuff in and went out to find dinner. He made pasta thingy and got me soda and soup for today since he'd be at work and we watched buffy and supernatural while i counted the hours between albuterol doses. That stuff is magic, why didn't they give me this the last 10 times i had bronchial tightness?
Kato sensei gave me an extension on my Japanese project (or rather said I could do the presentation on the last presentation day). Thank god. I missed syntax again, i hate missing that class. It's my favorite and I'm starting to get confused since he teaches in a building on concepts way and if i miss a day i miss an entire process of reasoning...sometimes 2.
So now I'm sitting in bed eating a piece of delicious pie and occationally coughing out disgusting lung goo. God how much I hate being sick.
Ben is also a little sick but he's been wonderful. He's been helping me get stuff and feeding me and he set up my hummidifier for me and isn't getting offended when I don't want him trying to kiss me (I get panicy when things get near my face when I'm sick). He's definitely passed the ER trip boyfriend test.
Wow that was a long post.
