T IN THE PARK = TOP.
This will be a LONG entry. And I can't be arsed doing a cut.
Right then ...
Camping and stuff.
We arrived up at Balado at about 11:30am on Friday, the queue was huge but we just skipped and then got drunk. When we got into the campsite, we found a good spot and tried to set our tent up. But we couldn't do it.
SO, there was a big group of guys camping next to us so we asked them to help us, then we just sat there while they done it all. BAHAHA.
THEN I just told them all to kiss, AND SERIOUSLY, LOADS OF THEM ACTUALLY DONE IT. I was foaming at the mooth. I had my camera oot and everything.
We just sat in the cmapsite and got drunk all day, and the guys next to us actually turned out to be total areseholes. They were being really sleazy and annoying and we just couldn't be arsed with them. [PLUS, one of them kept using the word 'awesome' and I was like. YER FAE SCOTLAND, HOW CAN YE NO JUST SAY SOMETHING LIKE TOP OR BANG ON?]
I phoned Johnny and he came up with Paul, Steph, and I think it was Lesley. We all got pished and had a pure TOP night.
On the Saturday night, AND the Sunday, we didn't drink anything at all. We were pure shattered after watching loads of bands and we didn't even want to be near the JAKEYS camping next to us. So we just went to sleep. Aye.
Bands. Yeah. !!
Fightstar.
We didn't actually go to see them, cause I hate them. But we heard a good bit of their set while we were queueing to get in the park, and they were just fucking SHITE, I swear.
Maximo Park.
FUCKING. AMAZING. I can't even find the words to describe how good they were. EVERYONE in the crowd seemed to really enjoy it. When they played Grafitti, everyone was singing along and the atmosphere was just amazing. The singer is a really great front man. They way he struts about, and his facial expressions just add so much more to their performance. I like them a hunner times more now that I've seen them live.
The Ordinary Boys.
They are a PURE lads band. Me and Joanna were at the front, surrounded by hunners of big guys throwing beer everywhere and we were getting shoved about, BUT IT WAS GREAT. We were the ONLY girls pure jumping around and singing 'boys will be boys'. They played well and we really anjoyed it.
Audioslave.
I really hated them before, but I've totally changed my mind now. They're great live. They played a few Rage songs, which annoyed my at first. But I suppose the band members (minus the singer) are entitled to play their own songs if they want to. The singer pulled it off quite well and the crowd loved it. 'Killing in the name of' was great.
After Audioslave, we went right to the front (at the main stage) and stayed there for the rest of the night. We were right up the front against the barrier and we didn't move from there, we had a great view of the stage.
Embrace.
Again, I really didn't like them before, but they played a great set and I really enjoyed it. Their music is a wee bit heavier than you'd expect it to be, and they have a lot of good songs.
The Killers.
Apart from Brandon Flowers being a moody bastard, they were GREAT. They all looked very sharp and sexy. Me and Joanna seemed to know every word to every song, it was top. They finished with 'All these things that I've done', which was well cool cause that's my favourite Killers song. There was a wee instrumental bit before Brandon starts singing 'I got soul but I'm not a soldier', and THE WHOLE CROWD just started singing it ages before him and we wouldn't stop, and he couldn't find the right timing to join in. It was soo funny.
Keane.
Pff. They were boring as FUCK. They didn't play ANY singles til the end of set, and by that time everyone had lost interest. All the security guards were laughing cause the whole crowd was falling asleep.
FOO FIGHTERS.
I don't even know where to begin. They were totally amazing. They were really loud and heavy, it was immense. As soon as they started, the mood picked up again after Keane and it was like a fucking RIOT. The crowd were throwing all the cups of water back at security, folk were crowd surfing and jumping over the barrier. Hunners of folk got took away on stretchers, or got took out for misbehaving. The crowd gave as good a performance as the Foo's did. When Dave Grohl was on the stage on his own, singing 'Everlong', it was lovely. Definitely a highlight of the weekend. At the end of the set, Dave swapped places with the drummer and it was top. I love seeing him playing the drums.
New Order.
We only heard 'Blue Monday' while we were walking past to get back to the campsite, but it sounded really good. I'm dissapointed that we couldn't go and see them, but I wouldn't miss Foo's for anyone.
Death from above 1979.
Shite. The end.
The Alabama 3.
They're HILLBILLYS. We only heard a wee bit of them, but I'm quite interested in them now. They sounded cool as fuck.
Rachel Fuller.
She was great. We just sat in the sun and listened to her. Her music is kinda like.. orchestral country rock, only cooler. It's hard to describe. I don't think I'd buy her CD's, but she was great live.
THEE BIFFY. (aka. biffy clyro)
AHHHHHHHH they were sooooo good. I like them a lot more now. I'd definitely go and see them again.
Athlete.
I don't like them, but they weren't too bad. We just sat down and listened to them. They have nice kinda relaxing summer songs.
Razorlight.
AHHHHH they were my number one band to see this weekend, and they really were amazing. They lived up to every expectation I had. They played a great set, I can't think of a single flaw. Johnny Borrell was sexy as usual. 'In the city' was possibly the best song of the weekend.
Thirteen Senses.
We only caught the very end of them, which was a shame cause I really like them. They came out and met the crowd when they finished was was great, I didn't see any other bands doing that the whole weekend.
We went right up the front for The Bravery, right against the barrier. Top. !!
The Bravery.
HAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA. They got about 730102740284739202 bottles thrown at them. They were getting skelped in the face with them and they were bouncing off the drums and everything. I wasn't too impressed by their set to be honest. But I suppose they were getting put off. Near the end, they all started to get really pissed off at getting stuff chucked at them. So the singer threw the microphone off the stage, and the whole band jumped into the crowd and started throwing the bottles back at them. They had to be dragged out by security. I felt pure sorry for them at the time, but it's actually quite funny now.
Kaiser Chiefs.
Ricky is SEXXXXYYYYYYY. Everyone was singing along and it was top. Ricky has SO much energy, infact the whole band does. They were one of the best bands I seen.
After that, Joanna kidded oan she was fainting so that security would lift us over the barrier, cause we couldn't be arsed walking through the crowd to get out.
Bloc Party.
AWWWWW they are just so lovely and nice and amazing. I was well happy when they played 'This modern love.'
Travis.
They were great, cause they always are. I love the fact that they just talk slang and they don't try to hide any of their Scottishness. It was a good set, mainly cause they have so many big hits that everyone can sing along to. Fran went crowd surfing at the end, LOL, it was funny.
Then I went to the toilet myself and got lost for about 10 year. But a big security guy helped me find Joanna. LOL, I felt like a pure fanny.
Green Day.
I wasn't too bothered about seeing them, really. They were good though. Billy Joe is well hott. He took a saltire flag off someone in the crowd and started running about with it. THAT MADE ME HAPPY. We left early to go and see The Tears..
The Tears.
They were playing in a tiny wee tent, and it wasn't even half full. I felt shite for them. It's understandable though, cause they were on at the same time as Green Day, Ian Brown, and THE PRODIGY who are all really popular. We just sat on the floor and watched them. I always feel really happy when I listen to their songs. They have a great kind of brit-pop style, but with really deep and lovely lyrics.
They're one of the best new bands around right now.
On the way back to the campsite, we heard The Prodigy for about 2 minutes. They sounded really good. I was watching them on the telly earlier today and the whole show looked brilliant. They're a great band.
I met They Futureheads and THEY SIGNED MY JEANS, WHILE I WAS WEARING THEM. IT WAS BEYOND-BELIEF. I WAS WELL HAPPY.
AND I met KAISER CHEIFS AND THEY SIGNED MY JEANS ASWELL, AND RICKY PUT HIS ARM AROUND ME. I WAS FOAMING AT THE FUCKIN MOOTH.
My jeans look well cool, I'm keeping them forever.
I hate camping. I'd go to T again, but I won't be camping. It's the worst thing ever. We couldn't be arsed packing our tent this morning, so we just left it there. BAHA.
The toilets were rancid.
Food was shite.
BUT THE MUSIC WAS TOP.
The end.
