I'm really, really exhausted (mentally and physically), which I think is a result of the lethal concoction of working too hard, spazzing hormones & getting sick. And that means my defences are down. And at times like this I get intensely focused on odd things. And that meant tonight I felt like I HAD to change my LJ mood theme. Don't ask me why. My defences are shot, remember? Let me tell you, loading a mood theme on LJ is a lot more fucking work than it has any right to be AND I had to spring for a paid account ($5 for two months...which really meant $5 so I could spent an hour loading the mood theme). For some reason, I am a lot more likely to spend money when I feel like I'm going to fall off my chair with exhaustion. I really should just go to bed, but not before I load the mood theme and write an LJ entry to SEE the theme in action. I really shouldn't be allowed to stay awake when I'm in this state.
In other news, there's apparently a big golf tournament going on at Ye Olde St. Andrews Golf Course. And that means celebrities are popping up like so many mushrooms (did I already say I really shouldn't be allowed to be awake when I'm like this? My descriptive powers are already dead). There have been multiple Bill Murray sightings and there's a rumour Hugh Grant is around. I have yet to see anyone famous, and I doubt I will, but some of my friends are going celebrity stalking tomorrow...I mean, going to watch the golf tournament.
I'm not going to many pubs anymore, mostly because by the time the evening rolls around I either have society (club) events to attend or I'm just not up to walking into town again. Which has worked out great, because lots of my friends stay in and we just chill in someone's room. It's kind of nice just to sit around talking and sipping some cheap drinks (I picked up 700mL of my beloved WKD Vodka Blue at the local grocery store for £3, which is just about as much as you would pay for a single serving at a pub. Vodka Blue is an
alcopop, which is the same category Mike's Hard Lemonade and Smirnoff Ice is in). My friends favour wine so cheap that it doesn't even have a year on it (they claim it's not too horrid). Since there's a kitchen right near by (we don't get dinners provided on weekends, so they give us kitchens) and several of my friends love to cook, there are also random late night cooking sessions. My favourite was the pancake night, because pancakes are good at any time of the day or night.
Also, it should be noted, that I'm not doing British spellings because I'm pretentious (well, maybe that's a little why...). Since I have to do British spellings for my schoolwork, and I've already set Microsoft Word to British English, I decided that it would be too hard to do American spelling when I write to American friends/relatives and then do British spelling for school. So I'm just streamlining. However, I can only do the British spellings for the words I KNOW how to spell, so it might end up being a weird mishmash of American and British spelling anyway. Unless I type it in Word and the spell check catches me. ANYWAY, I felt I should mention this sooner or later, because it does seem a bit odd for me to do non-American spellings since I am still very much American. But don't worry, I won't start effecting a British accent, mostly because it would just be sad on so many levels.
