Alone At The Station

Feb 07, 2007 11:42

There were many riders before me.

Sure I'd known I was just another number.

Just another passenger on the train.

And like all travelers, when the train stops you get off.

Some will go willingly, some will be forced.

But like all carriers there will be many more in line to ride.

You may not see the doors open, and you may not see anybody get on.

But you know the route and you know the stops.

Some ride for an hour. Some ride for days.

But If you haven't been granted a coveted ticket you just stand and watch.

Stand and watch as the route that you want to be on leaves with someone else in what used to be your seat.

What can you do?

You can do nothing.

You just stand there alone, while the cars get smaller and smaller as they speed away.

And when it's gone all you're left with is the worthless ticket that you hold tightly in your hand.

You hope you'll be remembered.

But you're nothing but another faceless fare.
