Hey all,
I return...with MUSES! Oh man how I missed these guys. They kinda have been quiet for the last few weeks while I was working on costumes, working and everything else. But Con brought them back out. Even my Satoshi muse, too bad he has no venue to play in.
So...Con...con was good this year. We left early on Thursday, got a great start on the road. We arrived about 8ish, checked into the hotel and then got into the pre-reg line. *sigh* It was about a 30 minute wait, but worth it. Then I got my quilt up in the artist auction area and talked to the people about my dress for display. They apparently ran out of dummies and my dress sat in the corner for a day, but it finally went up for display. that made me feel REALLY good. However, now I'm sick of the dress and believe it shall be retired, or redone, one of the two.
Friday I got into my kimono and walked around with Paul in his armor. We looked good. ^_^ I went ot opening cermonies, which weren't as fun as they have been in the past. Previous years they would have the people performing concerts come up and play a song or something, this year it was more...HI! and BYE! And NOBODY looked like their picture in the program book. It was amusing.
After Opening Ceremonies I played Bingo with Kaela. It was triva bingo so the answers where the numbers on the bingo cards. We both relieved we sucked at it royally. After a while I would just start saying.."Oh yeah, the answer is Voltron", which was not an answer on ANYONE'S card. Kaela and I would laugh and giggle after each Voltron answer and eventually we must have been load cause the announcer was like..."Who keeps saying Voltron?" and we laughed more. Kaela did win one round. I kept guessing and was wrong on so many accounts.
After Bingo I changed into Layla...nobody knew who I was. Paul told me later the costume wasn't my best work. And while it was a Goodwill costume and I've done Goodwill costumes before, he said this one didn't do me or the character justice. I agree. The pants where hot though, so I'll be saving those. ^_^ Dealer's Room and Artists Alley were packed. Paul and I found the dark saber figures we had been looking for. ^_^
I went to Anime team Challenge that nighta nd got into a team, btu never got called up to answer a question. *pouts* Not that I would have done well, most of the questiosn were from anime I don't watch. :P Oh well. Maybe some other time. ^_^
I fell asleep before the dance and Midnight Madness. I was sad for that, but I was so tired. I was tired all weekend.
saturday, I got up late...tireness...and got into Saber. We stood around for 30 mintues lookign for the rest of the Fate/Stay Night group. They never showed. Either we were in the wrong place or they never came. I would like to think they never came, cause I don't like being wrong. We got some good pictures of Archer and Dark Saber. I do like the outfit, just not the shoes.
I changed into Celes and went to judging. I knew the moment I walked into the room I didn't stand a chance. But it was nice to go across the stage.I love my celes costume, don't get me wrong, but the other stuff in there...WOW...just...WOW.
After judging, which, while the line wasn't as long as it was in the past, I was in there for a while. After judging, I went to a photoshoot with a really nice person, black goblin. I felt bad cause the judging time ran way over and I was late getting there. He was sweet about it though. ^^ We had a good time trying to get some pictures of the dress. :P I think I tossed my flowers like 10 times before we gave up.
I wandered around for a while waiting for the Final Fantasy shoot to start. I ran into Dan, from two years ago, there and he was doing well. It was nice to see a familar face. ^_^ Nobody knew who I was...again...it was alright though. Final Fantasy VI was not the best well known of the series. Once they DID figure it out though it was "OH YEAH!" *shakes head* Still good times.
The contest was fun. I was 3rd across the stage. It was nice to just get it over with. :P I got to watch all the others fromt he back of the room. That was about the only thing. After we get done we had to sit in the back. I enjoyed it when we would go to the front and sit down there. But..oh well. ^_^ I didn't win, no surprise there. But those that did win, did an amazing job. I was very impressed. ^_^
I changed out of Celes after the contest an back into Saber for just a few minutes to get some more pictures. My feet HURT afterward and was glad to change into something more comfortable. My Satoshi.
I learned a few important lessons with Satoshi this year. First, don't piss off the fangirls, they will kill you. Second, don't fall asleep at a photoshoot...it will not end well. the DN Angel group is one of my favorites and is the only reason I still bring around my Satoshi costume. They are awesome people and I enjoy hanging out with them. ^_^ I got another one of Darks feather and shall add it to my collection. Even though I can't capture Dark, eventally I will have enough feathers. :P
Sunday, I slept in...packed and wondered around the dealers room.
All and all it was a good con. I'm very sick now. Exaushtion and stomach problems. I hope it passes soon. I have pictures...
http://s7.photobucket.com/albums/y256/sim_weiss/AWA%2014/ I'll sort them later. No DN Angel photoshoot yet...and I only got one picture of me as Omi (again, nobody knew who I was). Next year, I'm figuring out who the most popular anim,e character is and cosplaying THAT! :P
