On Oct. 28 it became clear that we could not continue with our planned upgrades for Nov. because of changes in our hosting arrangement. It was decided that it would be best to disable the site temporarily until new hosting arrangements can be made. The disabling of the site could not be done gracefully with a warning because I was not directly available nor had access to the site to make the appropriate changes.
All your accounts are safe and secure (with backups at more than three different places). We are currently making new hosting arrangements, but as you can imagine purerave has very specific needs and requires considerable resources to operate.
I will not comment on rumors, because I do not know what they are, nor do I care to know.
The site will be made available in mid-Nov with a new host and the planned upgrades with a considerablle and noticeable increase in speed and responsiveness.
There is no need to make this all dramatic; it's just the Internet, and the site will be back up shortly. In the meanwhile, I'm sure the moderators will enjoy the short vacation.
