Step-by-step Progressives
Start with a light sketch in SAI on a separate base layer.
This layer is only temporary and can be deleted.
Lower the opacity of the bottom layer to a manageable level.
Create a new layer and ink over it.
Export the image to Photoshop.
Fill the bottom layer with a gray base color. This works also as the background base.
Delete the sketch layer.
Create a new layer positioned above the gray base and right under the line layer.
Start applying the base colors of the character in the new layer.
Using the eraser tool, clean up any stray color markings.
Create other layers and color within the lines from top-down [layers].
The background is colored on the bottom base layer.
The base layer can be deleted if not desired.
Once the image is colored, touch it up with some filters and dodge tool. (Optional)

Notes: I had a difficult time with this picture. When I was about to finish inking, the program crashed and every layer blanked out. I had to start back from scratch from just a thumbnail screen shot. Certainly, this Hades is as temperamental as he looks!
