Back from the past...

Okay, so I realize that it has been a little longer than I expected to update this, so yeah... that's my bad. Anyway, much fun has been had, including a long trip home that was awesome. Till about last wednesday (August 3), I was busy up here doing the boring work thing, now that my class is over. However, I was able to get people to work for me on Friday and Sunday (yesterday), so I went home for a long weekend! Woo! Upon arriving, I went to various parties and saw plenty of people I wanted to see, and some I didn't quite need to see as much... My sister picked up another kitten in the mean time, and now we have two little kittens to care for. Etc. Etc. On Thursday, I accomplished much, including lots of electrical and plumbing work as we renovated two bathrooms in our house. This included new tiling, new paint, new fixtures, new lighting and new plumbing. Makes me tired just listing it all. Nevertheless, it was all finished and looks good. Friday was the first day of our big farming festival. This takes place literally next door to my house (my house, corn field, festival grounds) and was a lot of fun. Some of my relatives came here from Colorado, which led to plenty of fun and excitement. As a disclaimer, unless you like tractors, farming and classic cars, you might not be too fascinated by this. I myself do not fall head over heels in love with tractors, so I had a good time, but not quite as much fun as some of the other people there. It was similar to the the Jeff Foxworthy joke about a toddler with baby bottle full of pop being a Nascar fan, except these kids were farm kids. Jokes aside, I had a good time with the family, friends and others. The food was good, being real non-college food, and the weather was even tolerable. A special thing this year was the feature tractor, which for all non-hicks, means a specific model of tractor (John Deere, Caterpillar, Farmall, Case, etc.). This year, the theme tractor was the "Rare, or weird" tractor (i.e. not a standard company or model). My dad's tractor was the feature tractor this year, and since he and his brother from Colorado co-own it, that was why the relatives came to Illinois from a state with a much better view (at least in my opinion, given that I really like mountains). Sunday saw a big Texas hold-em poker game at my house, with relatives and friends that ended in me winning. As you might expect, good times were had. I know this is only a bare-bones re-telling, but that is why you can ask me when you see me for the rest of the story. Anyway, I'm now back in B-N and doing the work thing till Friday when I move back home to come back for fall next Wednesday. That's about all for now, so until next time...
