Birthday Drabbles

Hankyung/Heechul/Siwon; G; Fluff, Romance
It doesn’t have to be special to be celebrated.

“I still don’t understand why we’re doing this.” Hankyung says this in Chinese, so neither Heechul nor Siwon understands.

They’re strolling along the Han River, arm in arm, balloons tied to each of their wrists. Heechul called pink, so Siwon had to settle for blue, and Hankyung is stuck with yellow, even though he doesn’t mind too much. It was, surprisingly, Siwon’s idea to celebrate their birthdays, because Hankyung’s leaving to China in a week, just before his birthday.

It would be a stupid idea, except Heechul hates not being the center of attention, so Siwon decides all three of them will do it at the same time.

Heechul licks the ice cream in his hand, and Hankyung thinks he looks like a little kid (for once). “Hankyung, when we’re around, please don’t speak in Chinese. Then we can’t understand you.”

Siwon grins. “That’s the point, hyung.” Heechul glares at him, and Siwon crouches. “just kidding.”

Hankyung bumps into Heechul, who bumps back into him, who bumps into Siwon. This starts a chain of irregularly bumping into each other, and people are looking at them strangely. Three, grown-up men, the middle one who looks foreign, all with balloons tied to them and ice cream cones in hand, party hats a top their heads.

Hankyung finally understands why he isn’t embarrassed.

Siwon/Tiffany; G; Fluff, Romance
Candles are worth much more than just wishes.

Siwon neared the table, colorful candles occupying his hand as he tried to juggle the lighter with his fists. Tiffany giggled and plopped down on a chair.

“Okay, here we go.” He dropped all the candles on the table and picked up two - a pink one and a blue one. “One, two, three, four…” As he counted, Tiffany made sure each layer of the cake was color coordinated, the bottom layer being yellow, the middle layer blue, and the top layer, her favorite color of all: pink.

When all twenty-two candles were set in place, Siwon took hold of the lighter and flicked it on.

There was a mischievous smirk on Tiffany’s face as each candle was lit, one by one. When he got to the last one, Tiffany took in a big breath. “Wait, Fany, one second.” He saw her closed eyes. “TIFFANY!”

She blew out the twenty-one candles that were lit, Siwon with an ashen face - literally, as all the smoke had been blown on him. The last candle, right in the middle, toppled over, as Siwon coughed on the contaminated air.

“Happy birthday, Miyoung.”

She grinned and slid her finger across the bottom layer, before wiping it off on Siwon’s cheek and licking the rest of it off of her finger. This was going to be an awesome birthday; she could already tell.

Onew/Taemin; G; Romance
A smile is sometimes the best birthday gift of all.

Onew wraps his pinky finger around Taemin’s and smiles. The fan feels cool against their sweaty skin, after a day’s worth of performances shoved in only two or three hours. Taemin, meanwhile, is snoring softly on the carpet floor of the living room.

The clock strikes twelve, and Onew’s grin only grows wider. “Taemin,” he whispers. He shakes the younger boy’s hand softly, urging him to wake up. “Taemin, guess what?”

Taemin yawns, his mouth open wide, and then blinks a couple of times before turning over to Onew. “What?”

“It’s somebody’s birthday today.”

The sentence alone jolts Taemin awake, who shoots up in half-consciousness and looks around frantically. “Is Key hyung here? Oh, I promised I would get him that new leopard print coat, and I haven’t even had time to go shopping…” He begins to stand up, when Onew pulls him down again, using the strength of his smallest finger alone. He laughs.

“Today isn’t Key’s birthday, silly.”

Taemin raises his eyebrow in confusion. “Is it Jonghyun’s birthday?” Onew shakes his head silently. “Minho’s?” Onew stays silent, and suddenly, Taemin is drowning in a pool of guilt. “Hyung, it’s your birthday! Oh, I’m so sorry, I didn’t even remember!”

Taemin could continue on and on about his apologies, but Onew chuckles and pulls him closer to his body. Taemin is shuddering, from the cold, the fear, the guilt, he doesn’t know. “Today is your birthday.”

Onew pulls Taemin’s head up to look at the maknae, who is suddenly nodding his head and taking in this new piece of information. He laughs, in both amusement and disbelief. “I guess I’ve just been so busy, that I didn’t even…” Onew smiles and pulls Taemin back into his arms, and wonders when he got so lucky.

Hankyung/Heechul; G; Fluff
Dance the night away, even if you aren’t any good.

Hankyung pulls him near, swaying in the night to the music. Heechul’s only clumsily following along, but he’s trying his best, and he even looks like he’s having fun.

It doesn’t matter whether he dances like a pro or not, because the lights are off and they’re the only two in the house anyways. Hankyung’s still broke, and while Heechul comes from a rich family, he’s run off. Birthday celebrations never get too extravagant, and neither of them like cleaning, anyways.

One moves to the left and one moves to the right, and they both fall on the floor, Hankyung on the bottom.

He moans, his head throbbing and his back aching, but when he sees Heechul, his hair flying around messily from the cool night air, he bursts out laughing. It doesn’t do anything for the migraine he can already see creeping up, but he doesn’t care. Hankyung just rolls over and jumps back up, grabbing Heechul’s hand one more time. “This time, hyung, why don’t we try going to the right?”

Minho/Taemin; G; Angst
The only thing Taemin really wants for his birthday is him.

It was a humid July night, six minutes before his phone would’ve started flashing Taeminnie’s Birthday in bold, neon letters. Taemin was already outgrowing the bed and still it felt so empty.

If he had been there, he would’ve said “Look at that, even the bed knows you’re turning a year older.” Then he would’ve laughed at his own cheesy joke and despite the fact that the bed was a twin and the two were the tallest members in the group, he would’ve squeezed on with Taemin. He would’ve sung - no, rapped the birthday song to him, because that was what he was. A rapper.

Taemin didn’t remember when his world began to revolve around him. He only remembered when the rest of the world began to revolve around him, too.

Nowadays, the group wasn’t known as SHINee, the group with those five guys, but SHINee, the group with Minho. Minho Minho Minho Minho Onew Jonghyun Key Taemin Flaming Charisma Frog Prince Noona Killer Leader Bling Bling Diva Maknae Rapper Athlete Singer Dancer Actor Model Members

Taemin sat up on his bed, a sheen of sweat covering his whole body. He stripped his shirt off and threw it to the floor, because the room was now his. Minho was barely home to claim anything, anyways. He was too busy hanging out with Eunhyuk hyung and Kyuhyun hyung and Changmin hyung and Nichkhun hyung and this noona and that noona.

Taemin didn’t know where he fit in anymore.

Months beforehand, Minho had promised Taemin they would celebrate his birthday for 24 hours straight. Taemin glanced at the clock; Minho was already two minutes late.

He got up from his bed and sat down on Minho’s instead, picking up a pillow and inhaling the scent of his hyung. Onew would probably get him food, and Jonghyun expensive clothes or jewelry or something else that was completely useless. Key would probably give him something lame, like schoolwork.

Minho probably wouldn’t get him anything, because what Taemin wanted was not what he was going to get.

Happy birthday, Helen! Hope it's a good one! ♥
