Normally I like to talk in here about heavier stuff, or stuff that's actually worth discussing (hot TV guys notwithstanding), but enough people have asked what's up that on this day, a day in which I have zero work motivation and my boss is out of the office, I thought I'd do a recap.

For the first time ever, a few weeks ago, I think I had PMS. I woke up on a Saturday, and as the day progressed, it was like thinking with someone else's brain. I was irritable, and upset, and irrational. WTF? If this is what it's like for my woman friends who have this, every scientist should drop the whole curing cancer thing and go straight for fixing this. It scared the everliving shit out of me, because if I can't be myself all the time, then who am I? If I can't control my own reactions to things, or at least understand where they come from, how will I learn? I had sympathy before, indeed, but now I'm angry more isn't being done on this crap.

It is creepy. (The creepiest, for me, is when I can feel my brain come back over a five-minute period--like, all I can imagine doing is curling up under my desk and crying, and then, hey! Everything's fine! Feels very weird.) On the plus side, at least it's something to blame irrational upset on, you know?

I'm sure there are loads of fan clubs I'm not aware of, since that's not my thing...

Ha! Well, I like me some Daniel, but no, I wouldn't say I'm an MS fangirl. There was, like, mass warfare in the fandom when he left the show.

And now that I'm getting towards the end of season 8, I realize that the Daniel I knew and drooled over is almost completely gone. He's turning into Jack, with the bitterness and realism, sarcasm and irony. I love me some Jack, but Daniel Jackson's appeal (IMO) came from his unfailing willingness to fight for those who couldn't fight for themselves, and a constant push to keep everyone ethical. That part of him seems gone, and has been replaced by tight black shirts and bigger arms, thicker neck, and no heavy dialog.

Sigh. They rise and fall too quickly. I guess I just have to enjoy the beefcake for what it is.
