mmmmmkay
My computer is officially back in its proper spot and its all hooked up, hooray!
However Matt has left the building, awwwww...
Anywho, work was pretty cool today, I discovered an amazing drink from trader joes called "cherry cider" holy crap its tasty. Its like cherries, but in liquid form O.o
so yummmmyyy.....
Anywho, the last few days have been kinda cool (when I was home anyway) Matt was here with his girlfriend Liz. He was as funny as ever, and as cynical as ever too =P
and omg, we played possibly the coolest board game ever. Its called "puerto rico" and the point of it is to get the most "victory points" which symbolize the favor of the old world leaders. Sounds odd so far, but stay with me, every person is a "governor" of the newly colonized puerto rico, and its up to you to establish a more successful productive colony than everyone else. Each player has his own playing board with 12 crop fields and 12 building slots. You can grow 5 crops: corn (the easiest and cheapest), indigo, sugar, tobacco, and coffee (the hardest and most expensive). How you take each turn is, one person is the "governor" and can choose from 1 of 8 jobs (settler, captain, builder, mayor, prospector(x2), trader, craftsman). After picking the job, each person goes around and does the action specified on that job starting with the "governor". After hes done the next person chooses a job from the remaining pile and so forth until everyone has gone. This leaves 3 jobs left and each one gets one dubloon (the currency) put on it. Then the next person clock wise from the first player is "governor" and it runs through through that again and again until all "victory points" are used up, all the "colonists" are used up, or someone puts buildings on all 12 building slots.
So the jobs are as follows (Each person that chooses the job on that turn gets a bonus with that job)
Settler: Each person can take a crop from the six available plots shown, the job chooser can also take a quarry instead if he so chooses (theres a whole bunch of crops that are shuffled up, and six are taken out and put face up for the choosing. And quarries reduce the cost of building by 1 dubloon)
Mayor: Each person takes a colonist from the colony ship until all are used up, the job chooser gets an extra colonist from the supply (after each time this job is taken the available jobs are counted and that number of colonists are put onto the "colony ship". Colonists are needed to run every building or crop. Each building and crop has a blank circle on it symbolizing where a colonist can go.)
Builder: Each person can choose to build a building, the job chooser pays one less dubloon to build (Building do cool things pretty much, and they range from 1 dubloon to 10 dubloons in cost and take up a building slot, you also need a colonist on each building before its cool ability can be used.)
Craftsman: Each player can produce available crops, the job chooser gets an extra crop of their choosing. (In order to produce any crops you need the crop field, with a colonist on it, and the proper building with a colonist on it (corn doesnt need a building to produce it, only a colonist on the crop field). There are two types of processing buildings, small or large, large buildings have up to 3 slots for colonists, while small ones only have 1. Tobacco only has a large plant, and coffee only has its own "medium" sized plant with 2 slots)
Trader: Each player can trade one crop in the trading post for dubloons, the job chooser gets one extra dubloon for the trade. (The trading post has four slots on it and there can only be one of any kind of crop on it at a time, once its full its cleared at the end of the trading round. The crop prices go corn=0 indigo=1 sugar=2 tobacco=3 and coffee=4)
Captain: Each player has to ship good if possible, the job chooser gets 1 extra victory point for shipping. (There are three ships available for shipping, each ship can only carry one type of crop at a time and each ship only is emptied after it is full at the end of the captains phase. Each crop shipped is worth 1 victory point.)
Prospector: No actions are taken with this job, the job chooser takes 1 dubloon from the bank (self explanitory)
ok... thats it for now, I may edit the rules to make more sense if they need it =P
