fingertips damp with sticky summer juices
danced into this smog-filled air
while we lay on a cracking concrete
and swallowed the secrets drifting there
and while we drank the milky way
in a penny theater made for two
the possibilities seemed endless
as my smile wandered into you.
then while I took the metro bus
across a crunching, bitter land -
that's better known as teenaged years,
a silent wish escaped my hand
it flew into these glowing candles
left melting on my frosted cake
and swirled with my hot breath current
and past these lips for me to take.
